The original peice released on April 20th, 2023! Mayo played a major inspiration for my art style, so after drawing Lil' Miss, I figured to draw his Mario-Sona; Mr. Hoohoo! He was also pretty easy since he's based on one of the unlockable outfits from Mario Odyssey, and I had previously experience with drawing Mario himself :)
The remake released on March 14th, 2024! I felt like remaking Mr. Hoohoo again, and decided on going on a new direction. If memory serves, I was watching one of his streams and he brought up the possibility if he was forced to stop using Mr. Hoohoo because of his visual similarities to Mario. It's not much of a big deal, but the idea did click in my head and it sounded like a fun challenge! The challenge was to give Mr. Hoohoo a "Copyright Friendly" Design, which I took inspiration from several European comic book characters like Oblix from the Astrix and Oblix Comics. :)
