Bleeding hearts flowers

Bleeding hearts flowers

My bleeding hearts rebloomed, pretty happy because I was worried they were done for 😅

I wish this photo did justice to the surprising amount of growth I've seen overnight from the Sea Island Brown Cotton seed. It barely had the makings of a root before I moved it into soil yesterday.

Petunias are blooming like crazy! I have an insatiable urge to try cross pollinating them to see what may happen.

The pumpkin miraculously survived being moved, and today they've all grown a third leaf.

It's time again for your daily unsolicited plant updates! First strawberry is beginning to change color. Lavender and marigolds have been moved to larger trays after I decided to do away with egg cartons altogether due to their being too small. Snapdragons are sprouting like crazy.

Moved and transplanted a few things before the temps really jumped, and now we wait to see how things go. Most of the okra still had roots in tact after the creature rampage, so we'll see if they bounce back in the bed.

It's been an eventful morning. First I met a turtle by the door. Then I found that my strawberries had mostly recovered since their sudden decline yesterday. Snap dragons are sprouting. Somewhere in between I discovered all my okra had been dug up, likely by the resident groundhog. 🥲

The Mayan Sunset petunias were looking a little sad this morning, but a fresh watering and a deadheading of spent blooms perked her right back up.

The first fieldwork 👨‍🌾 of the year 📷 We’ve started working in the garden, and just as I’ve done for the past few years, I’ll be posting updates here from time to time as I make progress growing my own vegetables.

We also picked up a couple of gorgeous petunias. Honestly so grateful to be back in a community that is close to Mennonites. Their plants look so much healthier than anything the box stores in town have to offer.

Anybody have recommendations for keeping cats out of gardening beds? Picking up some chicken wire today to lay over the top until things grow more, but I haven't figured out the best course for when it's time to take it off.

I've got seeds of two different colored cottons heading my way Monday (🤞🏻), and I'm so excited about getting them started that I couldn't even sleep last night after getting the shipping update. I've gotta get ahold of myself. 😂

Learning to help plants grow continues to be kind of stressful and very hit or miss, but though almost all of my forget me nots have croaked, this blackberry bush has suddenly begun to thrive. It's grown several new leaves in the past week or so.

Photo of some blossom from a Malus Snowdrift crabapple tree

It’s finally here. Just in time for Easter. Malus Snowdrift crab apple tree in my garden. Planted in 2021 and now really coming into its own. It’s a thing of joy and beauty. #gardeningsky

Back to better news, new blossoms are appearing on the mother strawberry every day, and the little guys I moved seem to be producing new greenery. So it hasn't been a total bust so far.

Planted the strawbebbies and started some lavender seeds. I'm not expecting a whole lot from the latter since I'm struggling to start the easier marigolds, but we'll see what happens! I just hope I didn't move the strawberries too soon. 🍓
