Par-boiled pirogies added to a pan of sautéed onions and garlic sausage, tossing everything around every few minutes until it’s all nicely browned. Normally when we have pirogies we boil them, and the leftovers get fried the next morning. Tonight Vicki was in the mood for perogies with garlic sausage, so on a whim I started off by sautéing onions in butter, then added the garlic sausage slices, then the pirogies after they had mostly finished cooking by boiling. With the lid on the pan, they finished cooking in the steam from the onions and sausage. I tossed everything around a couple of times so that the pirogies would also get fried / browned a bit. I steamed some cabbage in the microwave, and added that to my plate as well. The combination of everything was REALLY GOOD, far more flavourful than just pirogies, and more filling even though I actually ate less pirogies than I usually would. Will definitely do this again! 😋
Add some steamed cabbage (with a touch of butter of course!) to the pirogies/sausage/onion medley, and you have an AWESOME meal! 😋
These popped up in my Facebook Memories today (from four years ago.) Pirogies, Garlic Sausage, Onions, and Steamed Cabbage. Simple to make, but sooooo good! Definitely need to make this again! 😋
