Götz & Nathalie have started catching today. Kamala was 3rd to safely return her #geolocator. Nathalie will be analyzing the track soon, adding Kamala to a subset of 140 other birds for which she has collected data on the #migratorybehaviour as part of her postdoc funded by @sfb1372.bsky.social.
male blackcap in the hand at our field site in Georgia. the bird is proudly wearing a geolocator on its back, which will literally shed light into their migratory behaviour, giving insight into overwintering areas and timing, direction and distance of its route.
meanwhile in #Georgia - where and how long do #blackcaps breeding in this eastern #location migrate? @joewynnbirds.bsky.social @andalgalornis.bsky.social and @oscarvedder.bsky.social are on a mission & have already caught 9 returning #geolocator birds. stay tuned! @ifv-whv.bsky.social
Robin team with T30 - field work on a partial migratory robin population in Northern Germany.
spring has sprung and the #dreamteam is out in the forest. first #geolocator robins have been spotted and data already secured - such exciting times. we use #lotek radiotelemetry and light and pressure loggers to understand partial #migration in a European #robin population in Northern Germany.

We create #opensource code, but what is its impact?
Luckily, Raphaël Nussbaumer wrote a blog post describing how he used our software to build a data standard for #geolocator data: oscibio.inbo.be/blog/geoloca... Couldn't be more proud! 🥹
I wonder if some #geolocator could identify this mountain in Norway. For the love of me i can't remember what it was called and i have none of the exif data on my image. There was a sunken village next to it that was crushed in an avalanche i was looking to find out more about.
Fig. 1 from the article: Annual cycles of adult black terns (a), adult common terns (b) and one juvenile common tern (c) from breeding sites in southernmost Sweden, as recorded by geolocators. Each horizontal bar shows the estimated cycle for each individual and year (1 Jul–30 Jun; Supporting information). Some individuals were tracked during several successive years (or part of year) as indicated at the logger code for each horizontal bar.
