Very true! Here’s an ex. from California’s Wi’ma (Santa Rosa Island) where Paleocoastal (12,000-8500 BP) features were identified in an NPS roadcut. I identified two types of #geophytes and we dated them directly to ~11,000 years ago. Indian potatoes (Dipterostemon) and little jicamas (Calochortus)

Albuca concordiana (a plant) with tightly curled, spiral leaves.
Albuca bruce-bayeri (a plant) with loosely spiraled, dark green leaves.
Boophone disticha (a plant) with blue green leaves aligned on the same plane (ie flat).
Massonia depressa (a plant) with two large, flat-to-the-ground leaves.
