#ThrowbackThursday 🌊🇧🇿 Five years ago, #Belize made history by banning #gillnets! The Fisheries Resources (Gill Net Prohibition) Regulations 2020 have since protected marine habitats, promoted #sustainablefishing, and strengthened marine conservation in Belize.

We consulted co-Chairs of the @sscmarine.bsky.social taxon expert groups and they told about non-selective fisheries exerting huge pressures on their very diverse taxa, particularly from #BottomTrawls and #Gillnets. @projectseahorse.bsky.social
