Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Summary: Buck wasn't sure how Eddie or really anyone would react to his daughter, but he shouldn't have been worried. He feels guilty for not giving his family enough credit. But, to be fair, it has been a while, and he knows he would feel hurt and probably a little mad if any of them had kept a baby from him. Buck smiles down at his daughter, still amazed that this little person is half him and he gets to be her dad. He doesn't know how he got lucky enough to be chosen, and he isn't going to waste time. He learned that hard lesson again when Rebecca died: that time is way to short to hold on to grudges and miss time with family. He wants Brooke to know her Aunt and Uncle and cousins. He wants her to know her fire family, even if Buck can no longer do that job. They are still his family. Most of all... he wants her to know and feel the love of Eddie and Chris. He knows from firsthand experience how powerful it can feel to have Eddie love you, even if just as a friend or his child. Buck knows that Eddie will love his daughter like that, and he needs that for her more than anything.
