The Redskins at the "Jobs For A Change Festival" courtesy of the GLC at the South Bank in London, this photo was taken before a load of Nazi sympathising skinheads jumped up on the stage and started fighting with the band, fortunately the road crew and others intervened and they ran off after also "zeig heilling" on the stage. A few hours earlier there was hundreds of far right skinheads near the river, something I'd never witnessed before and it was a bit scary, it looked like they were waiting to kick off. Funnily enough when the stage invasion started and where these skinheads congregated, there were no members of the met nearby, but loads everywhere when they weren't! That's my recollection anyway. It was a bit scary when I was down the front and the skinheads jumped on stage and started fighting and a lot of the audience quite rightly legged it, however before Ken Livingstone introduced The Smiths, it was heaving. 1980's The Redskins Live Music Sunday 10th June 1984. #theredskins #jobsforachangefestival #chriscantyphoto #catchingmemories #glcfestival
