It was second nature now to curl her lips back so they wouldn't be lacerated by her rapidly-elongating cuspids. Once the fangs finished curling into wickedly-sharp points, she used them to rip off the ring finger on her left hand. She swallowed the digit, bones crunching between her teeth and coppery blood staining the enamel. There were classier ways to release her blood for the theurgy, like slitting her wrists. But this was the way that Steph had first done it: digging hands into her own viscera, trying to claw out the remains of the demon she'd eaten whole. She felt more attuned to her divinity when she ate a part of herself.
