Read my Greenland Diaries story “Home” The house did not want to be alone this long. It was two levels, with sky blue siding, white panels, and a black roof. Two large bay windows once sat over its front yard. They sandwiched a large, oak door with a brass handle. When the paned glass was still present with its translucent skin, it caught the strongest and clearest reflections of the sky and clouds.

New short story from the world of the Greenland Diaries. The tale is told from the POV of a house that has witnessed the apocalypse and the monsters. Enjoy, and thank you for reading my work.

The Greenland Diaries: Day 17 They came to my house last night. I was downstairs, behind my wall of boxes, when the Drum started. There was an immediate smashing of the door. It was followed by a sprinkling of glass on my wooden floor. I could feel my soul trying to leave my body. I didn't want to be alive. They didn’t waste any time. They knew exactly where to look.

The Greenland Diaries: Day 16 It happened sometime in the early morning, close to when the Drum normally stops. There was a long burst of gunfire near my house. I couldn’t tell what direction it came from, but it couldn’t have been very far. There were no screams between the metallic snaps, just the endless drumming. The gun must’ve been something automatic with a big magazine.

Day 16 of the Greenland Diaries. Posting this is my new Saturday tradition. Easy series to get into, even if you think you need to catch up. Monsters. Diaries. Guy surviving. Standard stuff, except the monsters are incredible.

The Greenland Diaries: Day 15 My house hadn’t been bothered while I was gone. The doors were still locked and the windows still intact. Some homes that had been fine when I left were now pulverized. That type of destruction didn’t match the method of the monsters. Could it be something new? Luckily, my house is covered by the tipped maple tree, so it looks destroyed.

The Greenland Diaries: Day 14 Last night, I slept beneath the stairs inside my parent’s house. It was dusty and cramped, but I was able to build a wall out of boxes. They follow me wherever I go. I didn’t want to keep using the same spot more than twice. This area is too thick with them. There were more screams. How can people think of moving to places they’ve never been?

The Greenland Diaries: Day 13 I haven’t been able to write for a day. I got caught on the road while trying to take a detour to my parents. I just got back. On my way back from Ling’s apartment, a line of twenty military vehicles came down 694 going west. There was a bulldozer in front of them, plowing aside each abandoned vehicle. All the cars were covered in ivy.

The Greenland Diaries is alive and going. Enjoy this next day in the series. So many monsters. They're the main character of the series. Enjoy them.

The Greenland Diaries: Day 11 There’s more noise in this neighborhood. I didn’t sleep well last night. Gunfire, explosions, and an orchestra of screams went on continuously throughout the night. Sitting in absolute darkness with the world on fire isn’t easy. Sometime in the early morning, a woman came screaming up to the crawl space. She said she saw me go in there earlier and to let her in.

The Greenland Diaries: Day 10 The Drum sounded till early morning. Nothing was near my house. Nothing shook the dust free from my ceiling. Nothing scratched the roof. The moment the Drum stopped I was outside. It took me three hours to bike to my parent’s house. The freeway was clogged with broken and smashed cars. Most of them were covered with this weird ivy and blue flowers.

The Jade There were plenty of places for shade if you were traveling west towards California. Since the Drum, the Unnamed, and the Reanimated, the green wilds had taken back the mountains, badlands, and the entire continental divide. Now, some fifty years after the final demon song went silent to bullets and missiles, the entire Midwest and Southwest was nothing. They were a green smear of dense forest built by the monster’s phantom energy.

This short story from the Greenland Diaries is about an area of the US where the monsters sort of "resettle" and live. This takes place long after the main narrative.

The Greenland Diaries: Day Nine Last night, while the Drum was beating, a shadow was standing outside one of my basement windows. I couldn’t tell if it was a person or one of those things. I watched it through the boxes. It stood there all night. My gun never left my hands. My arms are heavy from holding it all night. In the morning when I took Snowy out, I looked at the ground next to the window.

Don’t Tell Me “You see, whenever I take anyone into the Jade, I give them the same type of speech. When I first started doing trips and tours through the green, I would write down what I was going to say in the hopes that nobody would be killed. My father fought the Unnamed when the Drums were still sounding. He’d see them every night in their element with the streetlights glowing and everything.

The Greenland Diaries: Day Eight Last night, something happened in the neighborhood. The Drum sounded around eight pm. There is no rhyme or reason to its starting time. You just know that when the sun starts to wane it could happen at any moment. Around midnight, between its hollow thumps, there was a horrible crashing sound. It was followed by terrible howling, and metallic pop. I don’t know what it could have been.

The Greenland Diaries: Day Six Last night started quiet. There was just the Drum and nothing else. I wanted to listen to a little music. It would've been worth the battery power to drown out that endless thudding. How is there any dust left on the ceiling against these vibrations? I tasted it. It's endless. A constant, chalky rain. I can’t stop thinking about my family and my girlfriend.

The Point of Fire “I need verification. I have the shot. The Unnamed is as clear as day. I can slow it down right now. It’s killed five already and he’s heading towards the truck. The guys have locked the doors, but it’ll peel it apart like a tin can,” Luna said over the radio. She was short, stocky, with blond hair tied tight in a ponytail.

The Greenland Diaries: Day Five Last night, I saw them. They killed him, my neighbor across the alley. He was the one who boarded up his house. They knew someone was in there. How did they know it? I watched them from my basement window. He had a gun too; I heard it firing through the Drum. I only saw them for a second. They were shadowy, long, and not completely there.

The Greenland Diaries: Day Two They came back. I had hoped they wouldn’t, but they're here. The sound started again just a few moments ago. Most people left their cars. I didn't. I crawled into the trunk through my back seats. I'm not going out there. I've got some old Taco Bell back here that smells funny and empty quarts of oil that made the carpet greasy.

Day two in my series the Greenland Diaries. Highly easy to sink into right now as I'm releasing the first part on my blog. The monsters are incredible. I dare you to figure them and tell me what is happening.

The Greenland Diaries: Day One I took a yellow memo pad from the supply locker. I don't care. I need to write something down. I remember hearing somewhere that having a journal is a good way to avoid going crazy. It was on the Today Show or something like that. Doesn't matter, I don’t care if I get in trouble. The bank won't be working for a while.
