For my money, Blair Witch is the best American horror film from the best year in American film in my lifetime (except 1989, but you had to be 10). I can't even explain how special it is to me with this character count.

Found footage is hit and miss for me. Blair Witch got me hooked in middle school, but I fell asleep 3 nights in a row before successfully making it to the end of Cloverfield. I do appreciate how it can bring down costs to make filmmaking more accessible for creatives.
