12. Play any instruments?

Aforesaid piano. I did Grade 8 in the late 80s, but a couple of decades sans piano rendered my skills rusty.

Flute was for many years my number one instrument (also Grade 8), but I’ve barely touched it in the last 25 years and don’t really miss it.

German C1-C2, French B1-B2, Italian A2ish, Welsh good passive knowledge (regrettably not more than that these days). #gtkmb

19. Somewhere you want to visit?

Definitely a whole bunch of places my ancestors lived: the Valleys, Forest of Dean, Penmachno…

As a tourist: Cévennes, Porto, Prague & a ton of other parts of Europe.

Less and less inclined to travel outside Europe nowadays.

Has to be autumn. Back to black, boots, leggings, rich colours, stews, a new academic year.

Words of 3+ syllables absorbed into English from Latin or Greek _generally_ have antepenultimate stress - just like the word “antepenultimate”. And this is why the stressed syllable moves in pairs like “biology” and “biological”.

Genealogy, photography, cooking and eating.

British citizenship from birth, German since Brexit-related naturalization. Getting dual could have become tricky once Britain left the EU, so this expedited the process.

3. Still posting on Twitter?

Nope. After months of prevarication - because Twitter really did serve me well for such a long time - I finally deleted my main account there a few weeks ago. Have kept my small locked account just to be able to access Twitter content if I need to. #gtkmb
