For a few days during Yoiyama and Ato-no-Matsuri (宵山/後祭り), Hachiman, the god of archery and war, leaves Gojō-zaka's Wakamiya Hachiman-gū (五条坂/若宮八幡宮) to take up temporary residence in Hachiman-yama's gilded shrine (created between 1781-88).
