here’s why witness cones can be so important - we’ve had temp discrepancies w internal/external thermocouples on this kiln and i was using a clear glaze which does NOT like going over cone 8 (1260 deg c) so i did not want to accidentally overfire the kiln

2 big bowls are in the bisque but i reckon they’ll crack so i threw another one… clay was v soft (bad for bowls) so im not super happy with it 🥲

yesterday i put wax over the flowers and then carved the outlines thinking i’d put black underglaze in the outlines but i kind of like the carved effect? just not sure how it would translate to the fired result 🤔

whizzed her up and she’s looking pretty good. it’s a bit risky cos i haven’t done any tests to see how it fires so just have to pray the colour will be what i want 🤞🏼 at this point if i need it thinner i’ll add deflocculant rather than more water

back in the studio - don’t think i’ll decorate any more but i will put red slip inside. however because of the bloating last time + this is a different clay i decided to make some new slip. so i dried out clay, add 12ish% stain to water, mix then whizz
