This photo is of the historic Watson Mill covered bridge in Comer, Ga. The bridge is comprised of stone pillars to support the span across a river, outer walls of aged wood with varying shades of weathering, and dark shingles on the roof of the bridge. There is a window cut into the side of the bridge that gives a glimpse of the cedar cross beams that are part of the wooden framework that is only seen while driving or walking through the enclosure. Watson Mill bridge spans a calm, mirror-like river that has been dammed. The dam is created with old stacked stone that is dark in color due to the water and age of the dam. There is water spilling over parts of the dam that create waterfalls down to the exposed river shoals below the dam. The shoals stretch towards the foreground of the photo. These shoals provide pools of water that, in the summer, families go to swim and play in the water. The shoals also create natural water slides at times.
