Both Skadden Arps and Paul Weiss were law firms founded because traditional “white shoe” firms weren’t fair to Jews or Catholics (and the list goes on) in hiring or promotion. They themselves then became “big law,” generally not known for diversity in their partnership ranks. #historyforgotten

#Peru established the first colony of #Japanese #immigrants in #SouthAmerica. During the 1940's there were #raceriots against them, often referred to as #Nikkei. The #US negotiated an agreement for Peru to round up their Nikkei, and ship them off to the US.
