I still got there in the end but like. I knew when I was like 12 and I didn't get to medically transition till I was 23 and I spent so much of my life scared and looking over my shoulder and I can never get that time back #homeschoolchat

A2: Mental health was often overlooked. And when it was addressed, a heavy focus was placed on the bible. The bible and faith were the primary sources for help regarding mental health. I received advice that increasing my faith or trust in god would solve my mental health problems.

A2: It wasn’t. I don’t remember ever hearing it talked about. Hard things were either ignored or a sign that you weren’t trying hard enough to be a good Christian. I learned early on to never talk about my mental struggles to the adults around me.

A5: I still struggle with mental health daily. But I’ve learned a lot of tools that help. The biggest step was seeing a therapist for the first time. I thought it would be a terrible experience tbh, but it turned out to be wonderful. So helpful, I just wish I’d done it sooner.
