Day 8: Hypno. "Part of the nature" It wasn't uncommon for hermits to leave their houses for long solitary journeys, sometimes lasting almost years. After all, it is in their name. It was almost a year ago when Hypnotized set out on this walk. A sunny morning with some fog settling between mountains. He didn't know what called him, but when he put on his boots he couldn't hold himself down. He quickly packed a couple of apples, dried bread, some honey, and cheese. Hypno closed the door to his house, but didn't lock it, knowing that his friends might want to visit it once in a while. The start of the journey was accompanied by some of his friends. Xisumavoid asked questions to ensure Hypno had everything needed for the journey, until he felt assured that his friend is safe. Impulse and Joel waved at him from distance, maybe even tried to shout some wishes for journey. Bdubs rode on his horse next to Hypno, having meaningless conversations trying to savor the moment unknowing when his friend would return. Once they hit an unknown land, Bdubs said his goodbyes and turned back home. Hypno was finally alone with only bird songs and wind accompanying him…

I drew this one on acid-free paper, giving the drawing a grainy texture, and I mostly drew with coal pencils because I wanted to emphasise on shadows. I was especially satisfied with the black background and white outline around Mimikyu, some of the blood splatter around Weavile and the shading on Hypno.

What I like about reading Pokédex entries is that they don’t sugarcoat how cruel and merciless some Pokémon can be beneath their cuddly appearances.
