Exhausted - and in some cases dead - Atlantic puffins have been washing up around the coastline recently. This surge follows recent storms which have left puffins weak, underweight and unable to feed after being battered by the weather.

Atlantic puffins normally come ashore in spring to breed, spending the rest of the year out at sea, meaning they're fully exposed to harsh winter storms and rough conditions.
