I am saddened to hear of the passing of the brilliant artist Jim Silke. I met him at the 2000 San Diego Comic-Con and he scribbled this in my sketchbook.

Heard the sad news that legendary artist Jim Silke passed away.
I came across his work many years ago as he did so many Bettie Page pieces and comic books. A real legend at depicting the pinup legend - double legend!
I had the honour to meet him at Wondercon in 2013.

" #JimSilke was art director for Capitol Records in the 1950s & early 1960s. He did the covers for some of #FrankSinatra 's finest albums, among many others. He told me that he personally took the picture for Sinatra's "Nice 'n' Easy" album."

Depicted is Jim Silke in his art studio. The pages pictured are from Greg Preston's The Artist Within (Dark Horse Books, 2007). The book features artists in their studios, and it's the one book I routinely take with me when I attend comic book conventions (hence the reason Jim Silke's actual autograph is next to the printed one).
Sad to learn Jim Silke passed away, aged 93.
