#justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social Hades (switch 2) Honestly a bit overrated imo. It’s still very good just not to the level it’s hyped up to be. The repetitive nature of roguelikes might just not be for me.
54) SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance - SEGA Villains Stage DLC
This was a pretty fun crossover idea for this game. The new bosses here are really cool but they’re also really tough to fight. It took a lot of practice and patience to take out these new bosses.
#justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit The Hyperstone Heist. I rank this at the bottom of 8/16-bit TMNT beat ‘em ups. It’s the least polished and has somewhat of a thrown-together feel—like it was cobbled together on break using leftover assets. But even the worst TMNT Brawler is pretty decent. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
53) Soul Blade
For the first game in the Soul Calibur series it seems to hold up really well. It has some really solid combat mechanics, it’s not too difficult of a game, it has some hilarious ring out animations, and it has an epic opening cutscene.

You have to admire the high effort of FMV games like Mansion of Hidden Souls (Sega CD), even while you lament the lack of engaging gameplay. This roughly 7-room "mansion" is 97% proto-walking sim, > 2% adventure game, & < 1% puzzles, & I #JustBeatIt. Nothing to recommend
@polykillpodcast.bsky.social
To my friends within the @polykillpodcast.bsky.social community, I #justbeatit Shining Force 2. This is a title that I really enjoyed the more that I played. The sprites are fantastic and the battle system got my juices flowing. Pick this one up and play it you nerds!
#justbeatit Linelith
Great little puzzle game where you walk around as a rock solving line trace puzzles. The rules are simple but the game keeps throwing surprises at you which makes it fun to go clean up with your new knowledge. Perfect rewarding difficulty curve.

#justbeatit Snow Bros (Genesis), a fun port of a Bubble Bobble-esque arcade game. Shoot snow at enemies to ball them up then roll them into other enemies. Beat all enemies with one roll for big points. Bosses every 10 floors break things up. 1cc'ed Easy and Hard. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
I've played After Loop on my Android TV since 2017. Since the game is now defunct & unlisted, AFAICT I've unlocked everything currently possible, so I'll consider it a #JustBeatIt. I'm sad it's nearly lost media b/c it's a wonderful Sokoban variant. Love it, want more!

#justbeatit Dear Esther. A pioneer of the walking sim. This one fell a little flat for me but it may be because I can compare it with all of the other great games it inspired @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
It took all of @cartridgeclub.bsky.social SNES March Madness but I #justbeatit, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time. @captainalgebra.bsky.social suggested switching to Leo. I did and made it to Super Shredder before using a continue. Then I beat him deathless with Raph. Cowabunga! @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Old Man’s Journey. Slide pieces of the vibrant environment around to go on a walk. Chill music and visual storytelling meant to evoke emotion @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Donkey Kong Jr. Math. Climb rope and solve simple math equations. Ya know like Donkey Kong Jr. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Wide Ocean Big Jacket. A pretty funny visual novel about an extended family camping trip with some mild sexual exploration. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Sheepy A Short Adventure. The name is accurate. The game has some pretty cool moments in an otherwise simple gated exploration. Music is fantastic @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Gradius (NSO). This is one tough shooter. Each level starts the same way so I also thought I wasn’t making progress for awhile, but I don’t play many retro games so I’m likely an idiot. Glad I played it on the Switch @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
52) Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meetup in Bellabel Park
The new single player content for this Switch 2 upgrade is actually pretty good. The new boss battles with the Koopalings are a lot more fun and creative than most of the base game bosses.
#justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
Inspired by a recent Classic Gaming Podcast, I was a bad enough dude to rescue the president and I #justbeatit Bad Dudes for NES. It's an ok single plane beat em up considering the system, with a surprising amount of move variety. I̵͙͑̒̆'̸̭̋̄͝M̴͕̦̊̀ ̸̡̝̏̏̌B̴̳̮̺̏À̸̞̊͝D̴̛̘̙͘!̶̘͌̇̚ @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
My understanding of VVVVVV, that it's a platformer with a gravity flip mechanic instead of jumping, sold this game extremely short. Now I understand why it's an indie darling: it's terrific with a banging soundtrack! I #JustBeatIt & am anxious to find the last trinkets.

#JustBeatIt Still Wakes the Deep. Fun cosmic horror experience with some occasional frustration with the controls. Great visuals, mood and aesthetic. Couch co-oped it by controller passing with my wife. She gives it 4 tentacles out of 6. I’m at about the same. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
51) Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety (SNES)
Compared to Maximum Carnage I thought that this one was just okay. Design wise the levels are alright, you fight the same generic looking enemies constantly, and the bosses are pretty tedious to fight.
#justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#JustBeatIt Journey. Seriously difficult game that presents a challenge for serious gamers. Complex level design and boss fights that are among the most difficult in gaming. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Gradius Interstellar Assault. (NSO). I don’t play a ton of shoot em ups but this one seemed to be nailing the style for 1991. I was surprised there was a well crafted visual story as well @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
50) Silver Surfer
Even though it’s cool that one of my favourite Marvel heroes has his own game, this one is definitely as difficult as everyone says it is. With the numerous obstacles and durable enemies it’s amazing anyone was able to beat this game at all
#justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
49) Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage (SNES)
Here’s another Marvel game I always kept seeing and now that I’ve played I’d say it’s pretty good. The combat is a tad repetitive but still pretty fun
and the game has a very catchy soundtrack.
#justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Kirby’s Dream Land (NSO). Not much to this one. No abilities - just sucking and puffing…unless I missed something @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Super Mario Land (NSO). I think this is a Mario game I could have beaten as a kid…if I had a Game Boy. Pretty simple and straightforward @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
#justbeatit Limbo. I can’t put a finger on why I like this game so much. It may be because I find it very rewarding learning how to avoid death. Smartly designed and concise. Each death teaches you something and can even be straight up looney tunes @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
48) Captain America and The Avengers (Arcade)
I’ve only ever seen YouTube clips of this game but now that I’ve finally played it I’d say that it was really fun. The core gameplay maybe basic but it’s still good and the managed to cram a lot of characters here
#justbeatit @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
47) X-Men: The Arcade Game
After so many years of wishing to play this iconic game the Maximum collection has finally given me my chance. This game is just as fun as everyone says it is. The combat is great and I love the cast of X-Men you can play as here.
