โMy body, my choiceโ
means all bodies, trans bodies included.
What keeps our oppressors up at night, I think, is the fear that our collective advocacy will get us to this truth.
To be free, to live in a just world means all bodies have the right to choose HOW.
Yesterdayโs Supreme Court hearing on whether trans youth have the right to gender affirming care is about this truth; this choice to live justly and freely in our bodies.
The ruling of this case will impact trans youth, adults, LGBTQ+ individuals & more.
It has the potential to tip the scales on reproductive justice, healthcare in general and access to needing funding for
Medicaid for all.
This ruling isnโt just about queer folks โ itโs about ALL folks.
While fear provokes clenched fists toward regulation of bodies, especially intentionally targeted trans bodies, LOVE still has the power to provoke not only our need for response, but the care of those being regulated.
Our lives; our world - Godโs vision for our well-being depends on us choosing love.
NOW is the time to educate, bring awareness to these issues and the real people they impact.
Because WE are the ones who will support, care for, advocate and journey our way through this unjust moment toward justice.
๐๐พ One way to bring awareness to these issues is to engage with the offerings of UCC's Gender & Sexuality Justice Ministries. Download the Toolkits, watch the videos, and open discussions at your church: www.ucc.org/loveislouder/
