A charming vintage 1950s handmade copper enamel tray titled "King of Siam" by enamel artist Lily Alexander of Southern California. The musical movie "The King and I" came out in 1956, and I'm guessing that this tray was made sometime soon after. Lily Alexander obviously had a love for Siamese cats as she did more than one of these art pieces with them, but this is one of the more appealing in my opinion. In this depiction, the cat is stretching and at the same time asking its owner for affection and perhaps some kind of edible delight. The tray measures 7-7/8" square by about 1.5" high at the rim. There is one very small fleabite in one corner that is not at all noticeable when displayed, and in fact is barely noticeable in my closeup photos. Doesn't detract in the least from this charming tableau! Otherwise excellent vintage condition.
