After last week’s essay, I realized how wrong that question can be.
My new piece is about modern Korean #PostpartumCare, but also about what every society tells #mothers they are worth after #birth.
South #Koreans have become increasingly dissatisfied with the U.S.-South Korea alliance and with the presence of U.S. troops in the country.
By 1924, 541 #Koreans living in America claimed to be political refugees. Among the political activists residing in the United States at this time were Ahn Chang Ho, Pak Yong-Man, and Syngman Rhee, the future first president of South Korea
Some #Koreans moved as far north as Alaska and found jobs in the salmon fisheries. The majority of those who remigrated, however, settled in California.
During 1907 some 150 workers were sent to Hawaii. Two years later, with #Chinese, #Japanese, and #Koreans now banned from immigrating to the United Sates, the HSPA returned to the Philippines, looking for workers.
By 1905 the #Japanese government banned emigration from the peninsula because so many #Koreans were leaving to avoid #Japanese oppression.
Since #Koreans first began immigrating to the United States, they have remained active in the politics of their homeland
