There is something quite beautiful about frost I think. It adds a magical element to your view #littleadventures25 Castle Combe
Our last #littleadventures25! We came out early but it was still busy. A beautiful cold frosty day with excellent light Castle Combe Village
I clambered over the beach for these shots of flotsam. Beautiful aren’t! #littleadventures25 Lyme Regis
Two interesting sculptures. Founder of Bermuda and a juggling hare by Clare Trenchard #littleadventures25 Lyme Regis
The Victorian carving is magnificent and the stonework on the Martyrs Pulpit is so detailed #littleadventures25 Exeter Cathedral
Unfolding Love a sculpture by Janis Ridley created in memory of Annette van Oppen is stunning #littleadventures25 Exeter Cathedral
Apart from the Nativity figures, there is also a Winter Community Exhibition with the title ‘The Art of Appreciation’ to see. One that really took my eye was Gabriel delivering his message. #littleadventures25
Each area of specific interest in the cathedral had an information sheet together with a small statuette #littleadventures25
We have fond memories of the cathedral because this was the venue for my son’s graduation #littleadventures25 Exeter
It was very busy with lots of promenaders enjoying the beautiful sunshine #littleadventures25 Sidmouth seafront
All settled in on 3rd floor which has given us great views and a friend #littleadventures25 Royal York & Falkener Hotel Sidmouth
Good morning!
We are off for a couple of days ‘Twixmas’ break to Devon.
Very cold but we have our hats, scarves and gloves so we’ll be fine. The sun is glorious though. Have a good day working out what day it is! #littleadventures25
I became a bit obsessed with the shoes! I didn’t take a photo of the clogs but did know the ballet. The room volunteer was amazed & told of the couple of hundred visitors, I was the only one who knew it! Which is it? #littleadventures25 Basildon Park
Many National Trust properties run a competition through the house. Today you had to guess the ballet. A clue came in the music being played & key items. Which are these two? #littleadventures25 Basildon Park
The house always goes over the top with trees & fireplace decorations #littleadventures25 Basildon Park
This is our third Christmas visit to this house & they have all been amazing. This year’s theme ‘The Enchantment of Ballet’ did not disappoint. Stand by for shoes, trees & sparkle #littleadventures25 Basildon Park
St Mary the Virgin
The wooden pulpit and screen both thought to be of the same century. Dickens' bought a country retreat here and his daughter, Kate, married here in July 1860 #littleadventures25
THE DOOR is pretty amazing
‘Charmingly carved, the weighty south door I'd come to see is late-fourteenth or early fifteenth century and decorated by traceried panels with regularly positioned flowerheads and a few human faces.’
#littleadventures25
Our church from ‘Forgotten Churches’ by Luke Shergold today wasn’t Mary the Virgin in Higham. Chosen for its door! #littleadventures25
After lovely breakfast we are off to see the church in Dickens ‘Great Expectations’ #littleadventures25
