#Wharfedale winter bimble, and it was bitterly cold despite appearances. "The tree (a lowly Hawthorn) which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing which stands in the way." (of #Littondale) – William Blake 1799. #landscape #yorkshiredalesnatioinalpark #stormhour #goc

A scenic view of a rolling valley in the countryside, featuring steep grassy hills in the foreground and a wide expanse of moorland in the background. The foreground shows sloping terrain with patches of green grass, scattered shrubs, and stone walls marking boundaries. Below, a lush green valley floor is dotted with trees and divided into fields by dry stone walls. The midground transitions into darker, forested areas, while the background consists of expansive, gently sloping hills covered in brownish heather and grass. The sky above is partly cloudy with patches of blue, casting soft shadows across the landscape, creating a mix of light and shade on the hills.
Each morning we open a window to the Dales and share some of its special qualities. We particularly love this dramatic view across Littondale 🙏

A sweeping view of a sunlit valley in the Yorkshire Dales, featuring gently sloping hills with scattered stone walls and lush green fields; a patch of trees follows the valley floor while rugged moorland rises in the distance under a partly cloudy sky.
Littondale is a classic u-shaped glacial valley off Upper Wharfedale. The shallow River Skirfare meanders across the farmed valley floor and disappears below ground for much of the year north of the hamlet of Litton.

I’m having a staycation and gathering inspiration for new #linocut print ideas. I created these postcard-sized prints from a week like that before. It’s a view in one of my favourite Dales, #Littondale.
