I now realize just how much Fray and E'd have reversed roles since being Achilles and Patroclus. Patro sac'd themself during the Final Days and Achi vowed with his dying breath to avenge them. Millenia later- E'dmund would be the one vowing to burn everything to get Fray back.
It's strange because E'dmund is a man who has faced so much death in his life. He has also brought someone back from the dead. Yet he has no concept of dying. I think if you asked it just genuinely wouldn't register to him bc he cannot conceptualize his own death to begin with.

This is the closest I have for E'd as a "child". He was about 16 or 17 when he arrived in Limsa.
I have thought about doing something younger but- who he was as a kid doesn't matter to him and I'm gonna respect that. I also just have no real interest showing him pretransition.

I wrote an entire thread about it back on twt that I recently harvested. The tldr is that he didn't have a name until he arrived in Limsa after stowing away on Carvallian's ship. Carvallian gave him the name "E'dmondt Tia" but E'd didn't fully understand and went with "E'dmund"

I genuinely forget that ppl just do not know most of my characters' lore but yeah: E'ds entire thing is Alchemy. He is Hannish and trained with Nidhana during his teen years and came to Eorzea to learn in Ul'dah. His goal was to develop HRT for himself and it led to him inventing Fantasia

E'd avoids speaking of the things he did in SHB - specifically how absolutely debauched he became visiting Eulmore. He was so empty lost and hurting he was doing anything he could to feel ANYTHING else- lots of sex and lots of drugs. Thancred had to be the one to snap him out of it.

In my lore Ardbert is not my WoL's shard, but Fray's. Their ancient, Achilles, shared the seat of Azem with E'ds. They all share the same reckless determination when it comes to their goals- as well as their fate to never succeed. If Achi can not be a jerk for 5 mins they might get along.

- Lyse was there for Endwalker specifically Aitiascope
- Severian is no longer the ALC guild master, E'd bought it from him

If anyone asked me to explain #fraymund to them I'd just link "Monsters" by The Midnight and "So much (for) Stardust" by Fob. The former feels made for them and the latter inspired a lot of the feels for them and their ancient's lore.

Before leaving his tribe E'dmund was conditioned to be a Dancer. That has impacted a lot of his fighting style to this day. More importantly he spent most of his adolescence apprenticing with Nidhana in the Great Works learning Hannish Alchemy. The ALC quests dont change much bc of it tho
