Long term use of corticosteroids can lead to osteoporosis in Lupus patients. Since I take steroids everyday to treat my lupus I am at risk of developing this.

About 1/2 of lupus patients will experience some type of irreversible organ damage within 5 years of being dx. That's horrible.

So at least 20 % of lupus patients will have a family member that already has their disease and 5% of children that are born from folks with lupus will get it.

Lupus can be hereditary for some folks. I have a family member that also has it but I do not know if he is still alive or not. He is a cousin of my dads.

There's no actual blood test for Lupus but there is something called ANA test and that tests antibodies of Lupus. I tested positive when I was dx.

Today was an amazingly warm sunny day.

A recent study showed that 95% of those with lupus survived 5 years after diagnosis, and 90% survived 10 years. for me I'm 18.5 years having it and I'm still alive.

Lupus is twice more prevalent in POC like Black, indigenous and Asian folks than it is with white people. According to lupus.org 1 in 537 black women have a lupus dx which is messed up.
