you have to curve the ball

either throw like this, or flip the aiming if you throw the other way. thats it, thats the whole thing. ball must CURVE so the pins will splash eachother. super super easy

a break loop chopped on a grid--- without the timing changed, but with gaps at the end of some of the hits where they've been snipped shorter in microscopic places, which can make your breaks both feel cleaner, and also give them more dynamic variance

some cymbals one-shots in a daw viewed sideways with waveforms. the cymbals are in various states of being snipped at ends, or having different types of fades. cymbals work EXCEPTIONALLY well with this trick, giving you fantastic dynamic control over how long each hit takes to decay-- this gives you a very huge and precise control over how your hats sound in the mix! manual control of dynamics like this on your hats can allow them to sound less cheesy and also more "tight". you can trim your hats and then use nontrimmed hits to let your cymbals 'breathe' have fun <3

honestly the best way to give a TON of dynamic flavor and variance to basic repeating drum hits or samples is to pay extra attention to trimming off tiny bits of the tail, or adding little tiny gaps of silence in your breaks

this especially works well on cymbals, snares, or kickdrums
