Closer look of the 4 O’Clock. Not my usual palette, I’m more a pink flower girl. Mirabilis comes in many colors but I was very inspired by the broken variety. I loved the unusual pattern!

Marvel of Peru, actually a native to temperate and subtropical Mexico through Central America into west coast South America. She opens with a strong sweet smell in the dusk sun, hence her other name the 4 o’clock flower, likely to attract nocturnal moth pollinators. Cultivated in Europe since the late 1500s though her first arrival and from where seems lost (but is thought to be around Veracruz, Mx). And oddly, she’s closed here at 4 o’clock opening after sunset and scenting my morning walk before closing.
