Post: Did our colonial masters ever apologize to Africans ? Now that's a powerful question, and the short answer is not really. Most colonial powers, like Britain, France, Belgium, and Portugal, have never issued full official apologies for the horrors of colonization, the enslavement, land theft, killer things, looting and destruction of African cultures and systems. Some have expressed regret or deep sorrow, but that's not the same as an apology. The British government, for example, said they regret the abuses during colonial rule, especially the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya, but stopped short of a formal appeal. Orologi, France has acknowledged it's brutal role in Algeria and some African nations, but hasn't officially apologized Belgium's King Felipe in two thousand and twenty express deepest regrets for the atrocities in the Congo, but still no official apology or reparations. Meanwhile, the art, resources and wealth they stole are still displayed in their museums, and many African countries are still dealing with the economic and political scars left behind. So no Africa has never received a real apology. And certainly no reparations for centuries of exploitation were still healing from wounds they never truly acknowledged. But here's the truth, Africa remembers in the world must never forget, Because until there's accountability, there can be no justice. Until there's truth, there can be no real reconciliation. The past may be painful, but silence will never heal it. It's time our stories were told by us for us, share, believe, inspire blacks, be.
