The Court of Appeal has overturned the decision in Mazur, in a judgment handed down today. It means that an unauthorised person can conduct litigation under the supervision of an authorised lawyer.
APIL intervened in the appeal by CILEX.

CILEx people can do everything a solicitor can do as long as they work for a solicitor. But most work for an LLP or a company, not a solicitor. To work for a solicitor you need to work for a sole practitioner or an 1890 Act partnership.

Muss zu meiner Schande gestehen, dass ich nicht mitbekommen hatte, dass Marilyn #Mazur leider letzten Dezember verstorben war. Sie war eine großartige Musikerin, Percussionistin und Schlagzeugerin, und die einzige Frau, die jemals in der Band von Miles Davis gespielt hatte.

Significant developments with Mazur as CILEX confirm they are seeking to appeal the High Court decision.
If permission to appeal is granted then it will see the issue of 'conducting litigation' be brought before the Court of Appeal.

I raised #Mazur today in Birmingham CC on a cost schedule with only a Grade D on running the case. The judge said they had just had an email from the Designated Circuit Judge on Fri that any cases relying on Mazur had to go to him for directions and hearing, because the implications were so serious.
