McGill Spent Over $1 Million Fighting Unionization – The Rover Union organizers at the university say this is part of a broader trend towards corporatization of the public institution.

“This is the university going from a public service to being run like a private business,” said Broughton, a graduate student in law. “It doesn’t bode well for anyone who isn’t upper management.” #McGillUniversity

The engineering side of the McGill campus one past wintery day. Snow is on the ground as well as the dated cars parked along the left. A lone bare bent tree is on the right and there is an iron fence running across the frame towards the camera. City skyscrapers are in the background. The MacDonald Engineering building is on the left side.

The McGill University main campus in downtown Montreal. The Falcon statue, created by R. Tait McKenzie, stands watch over the campus. It had just snowed, trees are bare, old buildings round the horizon of the campus. The Arts building in the centre flys the McGill coat of arms on it's rooftop.

A figure from Andrew Fredericksen's presentation showing contours of shear-wave split times for much of British Columbia and Alberta. The dots are broad-band seismometer stations.

Andrew Frederiksen (U. Manitoba) gave us a very clear explanation of a better way to analyze shear-wave splitting as a way to probe the fabric (heterogeneities) of the upper mantle under continents.

The red and orange contours of large split times in British […]
