I built my very first microphone from (almost) scratch & after multiple rounds of troubleshooting involving no sound (cue some desoldering and re-soldering of wires) and then a ground hum 9cue more desoldering and re-soldering) it works! It stinking WORKS!!

Can anyone who knows about #microphones, #audio, and #sound help me understand what the following means?

"If the hum comes and goes with handling of the microphone, there is a poor electrical connection between the mic body parts."

Box for the GAX1800 side address studio connector microphone purchased on Amazon.

Well, here’s the $18 donor body, but I might send it back because one of the three connecting pins is loose and can move. I don’t know. Is that normal? I feel like I shouldn’t be able to push/pull a connector pin in and out of the mic body? 🤷‍♀️
