#hwa6 #moranarrative I remember I saw lion king, I think it fits well with this because it shows like good vs evil story sima = g scar = e and good winds but this wasn’t really a ethical storytelling because it js exemplified the right and wrong and no one understood deep motivation of the movie.
#hwa6 #moranarrative Every movie about WW2 has this same moral narrative. But its not ethical storytelling since it always tells the tale from one side.
The Lion King fits the moral narrative model, clear good vs evil and a neat resolution, but it isn’t ethical storytelling because it simplifies complex realities into a single “right” story, shaping belief rather than questioning it. #hwa6 #moranarrative
and has access to all basic needs. There is also no context about the why the burglars have resorted to this, meaning they don't show what structural conditions have led to this life. Not exploring how the burglars got into this situation is therefore unethical storytelling. #hwa6 #moranarrative
I don't think that Home Alone is an example of ethical storytelling because the definition says ethical storytelling looks at how structural violence affects every single person, one way or another, but that isn't really depicted in Home Alone. Kevin is part of a home 1/X #hwa6 #moranarrative
#hwa6 #moranarrative the first Harry Potter film I saw as a kid was one that fits the Moral narrative model, with a long battle and suffering that is depicted between good and evil (Harry Potter and his friends good, Voldemort bad)
One movie could be lion king. It follows the moral narrative model by showing how Simba is solely affected by Mufasa's death. It is NOT ethical storytelling because it doesn't show us how it affects different groups (for example, hyenas vs lions). #hwa6 #moranarrative
i feel like the lion king is a great example for this. this wouldn't be considered an ethical storytelling because the storyline is very direct. there is a good and bad guy in it with no complexities, which is what ethical stories require. its teaching a lesson instead of having #hwa6 #moranarrative
when i was in 7th grade, we were forced in school to read and watch old yeller. that story gives insight towards the lack of medical care in the time period that forces the family to handle rabies alone which leads to (spoilers) the dog's death. note the social factor in this #hwa6 #moranarrative
My favorite movie growing up was Pocahontas. It tells a simplified story of peace between individuals but ignores structural violence like colonialism and the harm done to Indigenous people. This makes it less ethical because it turns a complex history into a feel-good story. #hwa6 #moranarrative
i would say many disney movies from before the 2000s were moral narratives but they’re not examples of ethical storytelling because they’re distorted from truth or claiming truth. cultural movies had to have a warning placed on them on streaming services. #hwa6 #moranarrative
#hwa6 #moranarrative ignorant undertones in some episodes as well, which goes against the idea of examining how structural violence affects people but instead justifies it
#hwa6 #moranarrative an example I could think of would basically be something like tom and Jerry episodes (like the really old ones). I say this is not an example of ethical storytelling particularly bc these older episodes use violence as a measure of humor and comodín style and have had racially

Lion king is up there as one of my favorite childhood films. It presents a fairly standard moral lesson, but its not "Ethical storytelling" for the reason that the conflict is based on Scar's betrayal of Simba's father and focuses little on the whole "kingdom" structure of it
The slide says #moranarrative but I'm assuming it's meant to be #moralnarrative lol. Putting this here just in case
