A weathered wooden barn stands alone in a wide, open field of dry yellow grass bordered by patches of green. Its rough-hewn logs and slanted metal roof give it an old, rustic appearance. Behind the barn rises a dramatic mountain range—tall, jagged peaks dusted with snow and softened by light clouds. On either side of the image, leafy trees frame the scene, and in the foreground, green grass bends gently, as if in a breeze. The overall feeling is peaceful, open, and timeless, with nature’s grandeur towering behind a humble historic building.

The T.A. Moulton Barn is one of the most photographed barns in the United States and an iconic symbol of the American West. Built by Thomas Alma Moulton and his sons between 1912 and the 1930s, it was part of the Mormon Row community—homesteads established by Mormon settlers in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. These families farmed and ranched on the open sagebrush flats beneath the Teton Range, enduring harsh winters and short growing seasons. Today, the barn is the last remaining structure of the original Moulton homestead and is preserved within Grand Teton National Park. Its weathered boards and striking position beneath the Tetons make it both a cultural landmark and a beloved photographic subject, representing the resilience and history of early settlers in the region.
