To be a Rock and not to Roll... We were working on our own Stairway to Heaven at the weekend, adding some steps to a stretch of the mass path at Mam Ean in Connemara. The steps will help prevent the 'drift' of stone and scree down the hill, and make the path a bit easier to ascend. #mountainmeitheal

Fixing this stile on the Western Way has been on the Mountain Meitheal West 'to-do' list for a while, as it had become a bit unsteady. We finally got it done yesterday, in co- operation with Forum Connemara. #mountainmeithealwest #mountainmeitheal #westernway #forumconnemara #galway #hiketrail
Ironically, the last time I used an axe for a prolonged period of time was exactly 5 years ago, just before Covid-19 hit, while helping to build a boardwalk in the Dublin mountains with Mountain Meitheal Dublin-Wicklow. #mountainmeitheal #StormÉowyn #Galway #cleanup
Photo taken from Howth Head showing winter afternoon light over Dublin Bay, with Bray Head in the background and, farther off, the Wicklow Mountains.
By coincidence, an image below from Howth Head yesterday.
The walking trail is maintained by volunteers. Presumably a local group, and not necessarily #MountainMeitheal members.
We have a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/profile.php?...) and an Insta account (mountainmeithealwest). Meitheal homepage is www.mountainmeitheal.ie
