The fight over teacher pay in Mississippi stretches back decades, woven into the state’s broader struggles over education funding, racial equity and political will. Soon, the Mississippi Senate will take up the latest version of a pay hike for educators. #msleg
And @piperformissouri.bsky.social said Mississippi dropped the school voucher scam 👏🏼 nice job, #msleg #msgov #moleg #mogov
Yes, the noteworthy #msleg accomplishments, such as...
Ah... Hmm... Give me another minute.

I just finished my final interview for my final article of the 2025 #MSleg session. Please clap.🥳👏🏻
Now. Let me remind y'all why @nickjudin.bsky.social, @mississippifreepress.org and I filed Ethics Commission complaint against #msleg and challenged it in court.
The House decides policy in closed GOP caucus meetings with majority there, avoiding public debate in a workaround of open meetings. So:
MS Republicans failed to pass a budget during the regular session—now they want a last-minute rubber stamp with no transparency. Democrats won’t be complicit. This isn’t leadership, it’s a legislative ambush. Mississippi deserves better. #MSLeg #PeopleOverPolitics #GoodTrouble
In 2024, MS's cut in federal $$$ for food assistance would have been $209 million. It's near impossible to see the current #MSLeg filling that hole. The actual choice would be between massive benefit cuts or SNAP shutting down in MS. Either leads to a spike in poverty in the nation's poorest state.
Horhn definitely has an upper hand with the legislative connections as it relates to JXN IMO- DeP says JXN has to prove its to win #msleg trust. Servis echoes distrust issues as well; we should turn in audits and pay bills. Robinson continues w/ fluff answers without any actionable steps

Any news outlet that won’t name journalists and outlets that enterprised and broke stories and then link to the original are scared, useless, petty pieces of shit. Our policy is to always credit even unethical, scared outlets that twist stories into pretzels not to credit us (even for suing #msleg).
Tomorrow, voters in Meridian Ward 3 have to go to one polling place to vote in a runoff for city council and have to go to a different polling place to vote in a runoff for MS House. #MSleg should pass a law eliminating dual polling places.

#MSLeg can’t make deadlines and get work in on time, and it costs taxpayers $100,000. 🫤
The Care4Mississippi Coalition’s statement reflects on the 2025 legislative session. We’ll continue advocating for working Mississippians in the coverage gap, like Ms. Andrea. We're hopeful the legislature will address expansion next year—or even in a special session. #MSLeg #CloseTheGapMS
This will be #Mississippi after the income tax is eliminated
#msleg

Less income is stupid but ANY grocery tax is not cool. More gas tax? Seems like a move toward #liberal #values and #EVs ... I LOVE IT and I mostly roll in a v8! #climatechangeismschange #gonnadoublethattagtaxforevsthough #msleg
My understanding after running the Jackson Free Press since 2002. The capital city and #msleg are important, but media cannot cover Mississippi as the people of our state need by covering power at the state capital and calling it "statewide." I've used above early story many times to make this point
It's been a brutal week for our country, our allies, and for many of us. Let's keep in mind the words of one of my heroes, Senator Hillman Frazier and never give up. #KeepGoing #Keepthefaith #politics #MSPolitics #MSLeg
This is one of the strangest pieces written by a (seasoned) journalist I’ve ever seen. He goes to great passive lengths to not mention this was a @mississippifreepress.org lawsuit over reporter @nickjudin.bsky.social’s fight for #msleg access. This is not how we operate at MFP. We give credit. Sigh.
