Snow plant is emerging now in the Sierra Nevada. These bright splashes of scarlet color always catch my eye. Unlike most plants, snow plant doesn't have chlorophyll and therefore doesn't photosynthesize. Instead, it relies on mycorrhizal fungi to get its nutrients.
