The year is 1989 and a young Lloyd receives a copy of Heroquest. “I need paints and brushes to paint these models dad” he says. “Thats ok we have some in the garage” he replies thinking this will be a quiet afternoon. Thus armed with four gloss paints, silver, gold, green & red, a splayed out brush, lots of enthusiasm and no adult input I paint my first minature. The results do not look like the box art. At this point in my life I had not heard of Golden Demon and my confidence is still high. I had fun and I have come a long way since. (The white on the base must have been me coming back at a later date with some acrylic paint). The image shows a badly painted Firmir minature from 1989s Heroquest.
A Heroquest Orc from 1989. He was painted today in less than an hour. Not my best paint job, but this is the standard I would paint a 1989 Heroquest minature to these days.
Here is a bit of a treat for you. The Firmir is my first painted minature. The Orc is something I quickly knocked out this afternoon for comparison. The alt text is probably worth a read. Feel free to laugh. #Heroquest #warhammercommunity #myfirstmini #nerdlings
