A disturbingly colourful Lego diorama featuring a rocky outcrop from which some kind of industrial effluent discharges into a river. Whatever is flowing out of that pipe is virulently green and most definitely hazardous to any kind of environment. All the fish in the river are dead and most of the plant life has succumbed. There are also a number of chemical drums that have clearly been dumped, bearing radiological and other hazard warnings. Several of the drums are leaking. Fortunately, there is a four person Hazmat team on the case, all properly suited up and toting various detectors and other equipment. From the other side of the river, a reporter is giving a piece to camera. Bricksanto are probably in for some serious fines once news of this gets out.

A front-on view of a Lego environmental disaster. The various abandoned drums of who-knows-what horrors are rather brightly-coloured but anything but cheerful. Whatever is flowing out of the discharge pipe is obnoxiously green and looks to have killed every last fish in the river. One of the hazmat team has retrieved a dead fish. In her other hand she holds a Geiger counter. She looks horrified. Behind her is an assortment of electronic equipment, hastily set up on the crates it arrived in. Another member of the team is standing atop the outlet, where a blackened and nearly dead tree stands. It's branches hold a last few leaves, desperately clinging onto life. Another team member is balanced on some rocks in the middle of the stream, scanning the outflow with his Geiger counter, while the fourth member looks to be studying the main heap of leaky drums. On the opposite bank of the river, a reporter stands, microphone in hand, facing her cameraman.

A view upstream shows the true level of devastation this illegal chemical dump has caused. Most of the plants in and around the river are dead, and those that aren't look decidedly sickly. A number of dead fish float down the river. On the right-hand bank, the rocky ground rises over the effluent outlet, crowned by a black and almost leafless tree. A heap of various different chemical drums has been left at the foot of the outcrop. Some carry radiological hazard warnings while others simple display a skull and crossbones and "Danger." The four hazmat-suited scientists are busy examining the scene and collecting evidence, while a journalist on the other bank is giving a live report of the situation.

At the base of the small, rocky hill, at least a dozen chemical drums lie in a disorganised heap. Some are red, others yellow, orange, green and black. Some are obviously damaged and are leaking who-knows-what. The plants around them are brown and lifeless. Another hazmat-suited scientist is passing a radiation detector over one of the drums. He looks worryingly excited, given that the gauge on his detector looks to be pinned at full scale. A dead fish is visible, floating on the stream.

It's #MinifigMonday (again!?) and this time there's more than just autumn leaves in the air. In fact the air probably contains a number of things no sensible minifig would want any part of. I'm not sure this team is entirely sensible, though. #Lego #AFOL #MOC #MyOwnCreation #Hazmat #ToxicWaste

A small ish Lego diorama, featuring a Japanese-style teahouse with pagoda roof and circular doors with sliding panels upon which is a dragon-design. In front of the teahouse is a large pond teeming with koi and water-lilies. Three figures are standing by the pond: the geisha hostess, Master Wu, and Cora Lin. There are several cherry trees in bloom, as well as another tree upon which several blue birds are perched. To the right of the teahouse is a statue of Ninjago Master Yang. There are also several Ikekomi-dōrō stone lanterns marking the path around the teahouse, and one lantern standing in the middle of the koi pond.

A photograph of a smallish Lego diorama of a winter scene. The ground is entirely covered in snow and there are snow-laden trees, beneath which a bright orange tent is pitched. There is a large sled next to the tent, laden with all sorts of gear necessary for a sub-Antarctic expedition in the winter. A woman in snow gear is sat outside the tent, brewing some tea, with a laptop and satellite link set up next to her. In the middle of a zoom call with her family she has been interrupted by a trio of curious penguins. They seem very interested in the telescope set up in front of the camp and, ever the scientist, the woman has grabbed her camera to document the event. To the right of the camp, the ground rises into a small hill, crowned with several trees. There is also another rather curious individual who has come to see what ruckus has disturbed his vacation. Poor Mr Yeti thought he was going to have the place to himself.

The same diorama rotated 90 degrees to give a side view of the explorers' camp and the penguin visitors. There are also a number of gulls perched about the place. One is even brazen enough to have landed on the ridge of the tent. In the background, to the left, is a man in snow gear that matches the woman's. After having the unnerving feeling that they were being watched as they ate breakfast, he has gone to have a bit of wander around the hill. Meanwhile, the Yeti is observing the camp from the other side of the sled.

Another view, further around again. Here we can see the side of the tent and, behind the camp, it becomes clear that there is a cave beneath the hill, which has drawn the attention of two of the sled dogs, as well as the man. He is bundled up in his parka and is wearing snowshoes. The other two sled dogs are still more interested in their breakfast than in whatever might call the ice cave home.

OK, #MinifigMonday is a day late. Blame heatwave for flattening me. Ironically, this week we're off to Tierra Del Fuego for a winter expedition and it looks like our intrepid explorers aren't the only visitors. Yeah, it got away from me. Again. 🙄🤣

A smallish(ish) Lego diorama of an overgrown cemetery. There are several gravestones no longer upright and the plant-life has taken over somewhat. To the front of the scene a rather Wednesday Addams figure sits on an ornate bench, holding a distressed teddy bear in one hand, looking solemnly towards a similarly spooky boy who approaches with a nervous expression, bearing a bunch of flowers. The ground rises a little, in the background, into a knoll crowned by several gnarled trees. Lurking among the graves, apparently unnoticed by the spooky lovebirds, a ghostly figure in tatters and chains watches surreptitiously, perhaps remembering a long-lost love of his own. There are squirrels and owls, crows and maybe other small wildlife dotted around the place. The entire scene is built using only four colours: black, white, dark grey and light grey, to match the minifigures. All images embiggenate, including the 4-pane ones.

A view towards the bench where Spooky girl awaits her paramour. A white owl watches from atop one of the gnarled black trees, whose foliage is also white. There are flowers and other plants growing among the listing gravestones, where a ghostly figure lurks. Several crows are perched on bushes, unperturbed by the rather gothic-looking interlopers.

A side view of the little graveyard. We can see Spooky Boy as he approaches his date, one pointy tooth nervously biting his lower lip. He looks very much the 90s goth boy but has thoughtfully brought flowers for Spooky Girl. The gnarled black trees loom over the scene, playing host to a couple of white owls and several squirrels. Ferns and vines grow among the trees. This home of the dead has certainly proven a fertile ground for new life.

It's #MinifigMonday and, for entry no. 10 (!), the theme is love, if a little twisted and monochromatic. Spooky Boy and Spooky Girl have a date in the haunted old cemetery. The middle shelf has various jars, while the top shelf holds wine, boxes of 00 flour for pizza dough, and three big jars of Chili peppers, red, orange and green respectively.

A view across the store, which looks very bright and clean, looking across the central counter towards the door in the far corner. The shielded counter contains various sliced meats, sausages, black pudding and drumsticks which must surely have come from ostriches, given their size relative to the occupants of the store. Beneath a wall-mounted light we can just see the cash register with a note-pad sat on top of it. There are three customers in the store. A lady in a smart blue suit with an Afghan hound, a man (Raj Koothrappali from the Big Bang Theory Ideas set), and an Asian boy, wearing a shirt that says 'Love is Love' in rainbow colours, who looks very pleased to have found some gourmet chocolate.

This week, for #MinifigMonday we're visiting the corner deli, maybe grab a fresh bagette, a nice wedge of Swiss cheese, some gourmet chocolate and a bottle of wine, if we're feeling extra decadent. The proprietor is actually the Hot Dog Vendor from 71018-6.

A rather busy little lego diorama of a street-side noodle bar. The two cooks are serving a steady stream of customers, including one who seems to have attracted the attention of a couple of cops, one uniformed, the other in overcoat and fedora. Passers-by have their umbrellas out, apart from one man standing under a street-light, trying to shield himself from the rain with his newspaper.

There is one man who obviously forgot his as he is standing under a street-light trying to hold the rain off with his newspaper. The somewhat ornately-futuristic street-light also features two, possibly holographic, adverts, one on either side. One features a woman in oriental dress, her eyes closed. Among the people on the street are two policemen, one uniformed, the other plain clothes, taking an interest in one of the diners. The cop with the fedora and overcoat appears to be tapping the diner with his cane to get his attention.

A view inside the noodle bar. There is a large stove at the back with something sizzling in a frying pan, and two saucepans, one of dumplings, the other noodles. There is an array of vegetables in bowls, and other ingredients, and the the counter is cluttered with various bowls of food, plates of sushi, condiments and tea. There are two cooks, one of whom appears to be making sushi, the other talking to customers. There is a wall-mounted television in one upper corner.

The cop is turned towards us and we can see he is wearing a purple waistcoat and a bow-tie under his long black coat. He has droopy moustache goatee.

It's #MinifigMonday again and, this time, we're on the rain-washed streets of Los Angeles, 2019. Our man just wants to get some noodles and sushi (wanted 4 bits, only got 2, natch) without being interrupted by some cop with a cane and a penchant for origami.

A smallish Lego diorama of a bamboo forest in vibrant shades of green. There is a path of irregular round paving stones winding through the forest, leading to a traditional Japanese well. There are mushrooms and wildflowers growing amongst the bamboo and there are birds perched above. A villager is on his way to collect water, with two buckets slung on a pole across his shoulders. Just before he reaches the well he is confronted by a large black rat with ominously red eyes. Villager Ray is clearly scared by the rat and maybe by the seagull perched on the roof of the well, too. Ray has a stout staff but it doesn't seem to have occurred to him that he could use it to drive the rat away. He is too busy cowering in fear and is in danger of losing his traditional conical hat.

Ok, ok, so maybe I do have something for #MinifigMonday after all... Not new, but not posted here before so, eh, it'll do. This is Mr and Mrs Brickman's wedding anniversary dinner, a little diorama built for a contest several years ago.
