On last day of #nccl2018, David Wells said joy is the fuel of discipleship, expressed in bit of the divine in each of us, in who we actually are. Reminded of this in my 1st parish mtg back today: various organizational skills, nitty gritty& visioning, all building discipleship
At #nccl2018, both Fr. Richard Fragomeni & @leodelo2 talked about how we #proclaim joy through story-telling - even painful ones. Today, as parishioners lingered after Mass, they shared heart-to-heart stories of their week - vignettes of their #walkwithChrist
Dr. Ansel Augustine reminded us at #nccl2018 that to #accompany means to enter into the mess & let ppl know they matter. Today, for me, that meant re-connecting with mid-Mass catechesis with my kids, when I just wanted to pray - because they matter. #walkwithChrist
Had a great time at #nccl2018, but glad to be back @stmikescanton today & #encounter Christ in the dancing child around the altar at children's collection & the dancing Spirit around same altar, transforming bread, wine, & ppl into Christ's presence #corpusChristi #walkwithChrist
Wells: we don't carry "yoke" of catechesis alone. That's why we come to #nccl2018 ...gather locally with colleagues... nurture & cultivate & collaborate with our catechists (see Jayne Mondoy's new book with @loyolapress & @NCCLonline)
Wells says that apologetics starts with hope - giving a reason for your hope (1 Peter 3:15)
#nccl2018
Wells: accompanient doesn't start with superiority... Families (and young ppl) are not a problem to be solved #nccl2018 #AmorisLaetitia
David Wells is grateful to be at #nccl2018 & proud to say he is a catechist, helping ppl navigate the connections between life experience and the teachings of the church
.@MargaretMatijas Exec Director @ncclonline: To #walkwithChrist with hope, courage, & joy includes asking what should we leave behind?
#nccl2018
Dr. Ansel Augustine: when you #accompany it gets messy, and makes you uncomfortable. In workshop, Dr. Shawnee Daniels-Sykes reflected on being an ally to those who are uncomfortable, recognizing structures of prejudice, & hard work of breaking cycle #nccl2018 #nccl2018takeaways
.@ncclonline includes belonging -as provinces, as forums (PCL, Diocesan directors, Diocesan staffs, & new evangelization ministers forum), & @FCHcatechesis #FCH2018. #nccl2018 #nccl2018takeaways #ncclOhio
We #walkwithChrist together, aware of the entire church & all its ministries. Good to be together as

My suitcase is heavier than when I came to #nccl2018. Books and resources to carry home as I #walkwithChrist. (Didn't Jesus say something about this?)
Bergant: The reign of God is real when we bite our tongue instead of biting others. (Contributed by nontweeting #nccl2018 #nalm2018 members)
Bergant: missionary disciples have seen reign of God and made it real. We all have done this (really!). But the question is: enough? // This our identity by virtue of our baptism
#nccl2018 #nalm2018
Bergant: The joy of the Gospel is a message: that you are worthwhile. We live missio Dei when we live this message & help others know it. That the glory of God is the human person (them) fully alive (Irenaeus) #nccl2018 #nalm2018
Gateley: Discipleship & accompaniment stretches you. Outsiders inspire conversion for insiders #nccl2018 #NALM2018
Ansel Augustine: those on the peripheries need to know that Church hasn't given up on them
