Completed a nice but challenging 36 mile cycling run from #Dundee to #Montrose along National Cycle Network Route 1.
Took me 3 hours & 41 minutes to complete the route.
The weather was so nice and it felt great to be back on my bike for the first time in a month.

I’m sure I won’t be the only person to point out to @christianwolmar.bsky.social that the collapsed #SpeyViaduct wasn’t unused, it was part of #NCN1 @callingallstations.bsky.social @walkwheelcyclet.bsky.social
I loved cycling across this fabulous historic Iron girder bridge over the River Spey in Moray on my cycle circumnavigation of Britain. It's one of the highlights of the 5000 mile ride.
This weekend it collapsed.
Please restore this national treasure!

Excellent. Woodhorn Museum to the east of Ashington are now closing the gate on this section of #NCN1, @sustrans.bsky.social. Fortunately as an able bodied person on a bicycle I can take the grass to the side. A trike would be sketchy on this.
Yesterday was a great day for a nice long ride down to Hartlepool on #NCN1 via the Shields Ferry.
A week to go on this junction improvement consultation and I've sent in a pro-cycling response. Please do if you can too:

Roughly 2km of #NCN1 in Kent.
Improved last October, ATE funded.
2008 mountain bike pictured at bottom of Collywell Bay access ramp, in North East England. Behind, the rising tide covers large rocks as it approaches a slim beach and sea defences protecting cliff top houses in Seaton Sluice.
Collywell Bay - took the steep but rideable path to the beach. Mostly rocks, shingle and seaweed amid patches of sand. Enjoyed a cold dip, but on a rising tide with menace so I didn’t hang about. Wary of submerged rocks and currents. Likely good for rock pools at low tide. #ncn1 #biketothebeach

I arrived at Aberdeen not long ago after cycling 27 miles from Stonehaven along @sustrans.bsky.social National Cycle Network Route 1. Took me 2 hours & 59 minutes to complete the route.
Great weather and scenery throughout today.

Looking at where others ride around me, cycling prevails throughout the centres and housing areas, but despite the promise of #ncn1 the coastal route north between Northumbria and Tyne & Wear is terrible IMO
Walkers and wheelers take to the grass to avoid sheet ice covering footpath and NCN1 cycleway down to the beach at Whitley Bay, North East England

Sit in rush hour traffic or cycle through the woods? (My light is brighter than it appears, I just had the camera set up wrong)
