This inflammation may be sustained by systemic immune activation, reactivation of latent viruses (e.g., EBV, CMV) & the presence of persistent viral fragments. Markers of inflammation and immune activation are shown to persist in LC, supporting the role of chronic inflammation in #neuropathogenesis
