But they do nevertheless follow a similar pattern. In Bosnia, for instance, each “constituent people” is closely associated with a particular religious denomination; not being religious is thus a surefire way to have the authenticity of your ethnic identity called into doubt. In an astonishing statistic revealed in the most recent Bosnian census in 2013, the Ostali make up less than 3% of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s overall population, but nearly 60% of its atheists and agnostics.
