a 3 panel transformation sequence of a young man being turned into an anthropomorphic Komainu statue.
in the first panel, the subject of the TF is staring in surpise at his own hands, which bulk and morph in a more paw-like shape, and the beginnings of a tail grow behind him, solidifying into stone, one hand free while the other holds a golden orb. A disenbodied voice speaks to him: "Thank you, kind sir, for returning my artifact"
In the second panel shows further progress of the transformation, his canine grows into outward-pointed fangs as his face pulls forward into a muzzle, his hair solidifies into a stone mane full of whorls and swirls emblematic of a komainu statue, his clothing melding into his growing stone form, body forced into kneeling position. the disembodied voice speaks again: "For your reward, you shall be given the duty as my strongest guardian! Brave and and strong, you will protect me and my people!"
At the third panel, now full body, the transformation is finished, a statue of a komainu beastfolk is knelt down in its pedestal with a stoic expression on its face. the only hint of its former self is the metal hairclip that somehow remained in the transformation. once again, the voice speaks: "You'll only be like this for a little while, not to fear! My temple tends to get unwanted spirits by this season...
a faint "..." is seen besides the statue, signaling it can't reply since it's stone by this point. Whether it's still sentient or not is impossible to tell.
i guess even with Halloween over, the spirits have yet to calm down.
a certain deity decided I'd be the perfect deterrent for them after i returned their stolen artifact. It's... not bad. hard to think much when you're stone, but i can manage, just... gotta keep watch...
