Walnut Capital seeks to drop affordable housing from long-awaited Oakland project The fight over Pittsburgh's affordable housing policy has moved back to the city’s Zoning Board. WESA’s Julia Maruca reports that on Thursday, developer Walnut Capital requested one of its Oakland apartment

projects — The Caroline, located on McKee Place — be exempted from a zoning rule that requires some of its units be affordable to lower-income tenants. Developers sued to stop those zoning rules altogether, but a federal judge has they must request an exemption from the policy before they can challenge it outright.

Some residents opposed the exemption. They say Walnut began the project knowing the rules.

And here we go...they gave money to PGH's new mayor and would love to Seattleify Pittsburgh. Blech.
