Zorn enters the room in the temple with the barrier apparatus that he has been maintaining for 10,000 years under a spell to extend his life as long as he maintains it... He says in disbelief "The barrier has weakened this much already?! Why is this happening?" He removes his sleeves and sighs quietly focusing and centering himself. Activate the magical mechanism which reveals the core powering the barrier of the temple.
He approaches the core which has noticeable darkening around its surface It still has a bright light shining from within. He places his hands on the surface of the sphere and the dark shapes start to crawl up his arms as magical characters and writing... A large spell circle forms around him as he draws the dark from the core it crawls up his arms and spiraling pattern like a snake... (Something about his race is that They can naturally purify evil or negative energy through their mere physiology.. kind of like if you could remove a disease from someone and kill it with your own super immune system 🤣)
The dark shapes appear to be trailing upwards towards his eye but when it reaches his eye something happens. he has a painful reaction... His eye snaps open with darkening at the edges of his sclera... His wound has opened again and started bleeding intensely... The barrier apparatus repels him and he falls backwards as it snaps shut around the core again.. The glowing spell circle dissipates.
The barrier apparatus floats serenely once more The core is slightly brighter than it was before but still somewhat darkened... Zorn is sprawled on the floor panting and coughing we see a spatter of blood between his hands He covers his mouth with one hand in shock... He holds a hand over his wound looking stunned bloody tears are seeping from his eyes along with regular tears. He looks lost and exhausted. He says "it's becoming impossible to maintain the barrier... It rejected me again... that demon's poison must still be in my system." He looks at the blood on his hand with empty eyes.
