A weeping purple beech tree with cascading branches covered in deep purple leaves, creating a dense, umbrella-like canopy. The tree stands alone in a garden setting, with green grass and other foliage in the background.
Final post of the evening. Had to share- just look at the colour on this weeping purple beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea Pendula'). Deep purple foliage and a dramatic weeping form. Not subtle, but undeniably striking.

Two large flowers are visible in the picture, and a part of a third to the right. The flowers each have five broad, thin, bright yellow petals. From the center of the flower a very large number of stamens of different lengths burst upwards like a floral firework. A few buds are also visible, like the flowers they are attached to the plant singlely at the end of each stem. Behind the flowers the plant is covered in much smaller oval leaves. Each is dark green with a smooth edge and they are attached in pairs on opposite sides of the stems to make a solidly green background. Like much its genus, this species has an /exciting/ chemistry to avoid being eaten, but has much larger flowers than the common species.
