A sleek, black gondola slices from left to right in the picture frame. In the rear of the vessel, the gondolier stands on the rear deck, his oar extending behind out of the picture. A woman and a man, dressed in wedding finery, sit side-by-side, taking in the sights and being seen on Venice's Grand Canal. Behind them, colorful Palazzi rise above a quay which is lined with canopy-covered restaurant tables.
